Furlough Admin | Practical Point re employee agreements

When you first put your employees on to furlough leave, you had to get their agreement in writing.

By law these written agreements must now be retained by the employer until at least 30 June 2025.

We also recommend that you document how you selected those employees going on to furlough leave (including that you used a fair and reasonable process to decide which one to furlough – although for most salons this was easy since you closed up); but also that you document an audit trail any other communications you had with your employees around this – either save emails, save down WhatsApps, or make notes of telephone calls you had.

Sounds tedious but it could well keep you on the right side of any disgruntled employee disputes.
